I suggest you ...

Allow users to make notes on certain dates + keywords to more easily track the resulting SEO effects

It would be very useful to be able to tag a keyword (or group of keywords) with date-specific notes so that after some time passes, you can easily pick out the resulting gain/loss in the SEO rankings & graph.

For example: If I'm tracking the keywords "chocolate cupcakes", I could tag this keyword with a note like "Linked phrase 'chocolate cupcakes' in Facebook note to awesomecupcakes.com (12/25/2009)". Then your (very cool) system could annotate the graph for this keyword phrase and I could easily see after a few weeks whether my changes had any positive effects.

A simple feature akin to this suggestion might be to allow people to highlight keywords with a small selection of colours – similar to colour labels used in Mac OS finder, or such as used in Adobe Lightroom to quickly highlight and associate groups. I think coloured labels are also a space saver, and wouldn't increase clutter for the overall interface.

This would be most excellent. It would be great if mousing over the note flag will bring up the comment. That way if there is a spike or a drop, we can also take a screen capture of the reason and share it with other non-SEO stakeholders like Web Producers or Product Managers, esp if they are the ones responsible for the sudden drop.

Maybe a better summary is "Tag keywords with notes on what changes you made. AuthorityLabs asks you what date you made these changes. Graphs display little flags so that you can quickly tell what changes caused SEO gains or losses. Thoughts?
